The incident took place in Fairfield on Sunday, Oct. 22 around 7:20 a.m.
According to Fairfield Police, the victim called 911 to report that he had just been assaulted while asleep.
Once on the scene, the victim told police he woke up "dazed and confused" as a man identified as Gabriel Garcia-Gonzalez, hometown unknown, was punching him in the face.
Garcia-Gonzalez is the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s current girlfriend, police said.
Police said a short time later Garcia-Gonzalez was taken into custody and admitted to entering the home through a window and assaulting the victim.
Garcia-Gonzalez was charged with:
- Home Invasion
- Burglary
- Assault
- Criminal mischief
- Disorderly conduct
He was released on a $75,000 court-set bond.
